Silicon Mechanics, Inc. announces the availability of the new Seagate Constellation® ES.3 hard drive. The ES.3 provides reliable high-density storage, ideal for use in backup archival storage or other Tier 3 applications, including high-capacity RAID storage and mainstream enterprise external storage arrays (SAN, NAS, DAS), as well as enterprise backup and restore – D2D, virtual tape.
The ES.3 model is the sixth generation of the popular Constellation drive technology, offering proven reliability and featuring SAS and SATA interfaces and 24x7 on-time dependability. It provides enhanced error correction, and end-to-end SAS-based data integrity for accurate data storage, with capacities of up to 4 terabytes (TB). Low power consumption and on-demand PowerChoice™ technology based on T10/T13 power management standards offer significantly improved power and cooling efficiencies.
The Constellation ES.3 uses multi-drive firmware maximized for enterprise RAID system availability. It features extremely robust performance with dual processors, ramp load technology, a top-cover attached motor, and humidity sensor for optimum performance in all chassis.
The ES.3 is available with an optional self-encrypting drive (SED) model, which offers encryption and security services for the protection of stored data. Seagate's SED models are compliant with the enterprise storage specifications developed by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), an organization sponsored and operated by companies in the computer, storage, and digital communications industry.
"Seagate is a valued partner of Silicon Mechanics and we are excited to be offering the Constellation ES.3, which is ideal for demanding data growth," said Tony Vetter, product manager at Silicon Mechanics. "Partnering with a worldwide leader in storage solutions with such a broad portfolio of enterprise products means we can offer customers bulk data storage solutions that meet their current and future needs." |
